Build a Boat

As you may have noticed, I'm a huge fan of instagram. For me it's a brilliant platform to share and discover things.

Over the 1.062 profiles I follow I find daily inspiration about food, flowers, fashion and crafts -don't get me wrong, I also follow my family and friends-.

Procrastinating a little in instagram and I found a really interesting post about a workshop that will teaches people how to build a boat. The image was posted by the australian store Koskela.

Koskela was founded by Russel and Sasha Koskela in Sydney in 2000. They make beautiful and environmentally conscious product design. Sometimes they create collaborative projects with australian aboriginal artisans in order to help them achieve economic independence and to build a better understanding and appreciation of each others cultures. Here you can check some of their latest work.

By the end of November they will be hosting this great workshop about building your own wood boat along with The Balmain Boat Company. It appears to be better to sign for it in pairs and the cost includes everything from wood to tools and of course assistance by the team of BBco.

I believe this can be a great experience to share with your partner or children. I would love to sign up if it wasn't because I'm leaving Sydney by the end of the year and the shipping of the boat would cost me a fortune.

The better part is that you don't have to be a carpenter or boat maker to build something on your own.

In a world where money buys almost everything, doing something with our own hands -and with supervision of experts- can be truly satisfying. You can find more information here. And I hope some of you go for it!
